Living in Anthem Arizona

Anthem is both a master-planned community and its own small village. It has all the amenities you'd want in a small town atmosphere such as community parks, sports fields, a waterpark, shops, and restaurants along with a fantastic Golf and Country Club and excellent schools. It's known for its Outlets at Anthem and the 36-hole golf course.

Developed by Del Webb in 1999, Anthem is about 34 miles north of downtown Phoenix and has been described as one of the best places to raise a family by Parenting magazine and the best family-friendly neighborhoods in the Phoenix area by Phoenix Magazine. It's known for year-round activities primarily geared toward families. The central community clubhouse offers soccer, baseball, basketball, tennis, martial arts, and swimming from toddlers up to adult ages. Managed by its own community Council, Anthem covers three homeowner associations managed and operated separately by the Council but also working together for the collective good and benefit of the community.

What to Know About Anthem

Living in Anthem doesn't mean that you are out of touch with local restaurants, shopping, and amenities. The community is served by several large chain retailers including Fry's and Walmart. The Outlets at Anthem includes over 60 stores and residents enjoy daily amenities such as grocery stores, banks, fitness centers, clinics, restaurants, and other amenities.

There are three main subdivisions in Anthem, Parkside, Country Club, and Village. Each of these neighborhoods has its own homeowners association and elects a Board of Directors consisting of five members each. Both Parkside and Country Club homeowners associations elect three representatives while the Village Association elects one representative. Each works with the Anthem Community Council Directors to maintain continuity and order within the community.

Parkside is located on the west and east side of Interstate 17. The east side is served by Maricopa County and the West is served by the City of Phoenix. The Community Council established plans and policies for the community as a whole and manages all the community assets. Within these three major subdivisions, there are more than 20 micro-neighborhoods with a variety of home styles, layouts, and lots.

Anthem Schools

The community of Anthem is served by the Deer Valley Unified School District as well as several private and charter schools. These schools include Anthem School for grades kindergarten through 8, New River Elementary, Boulder Creek high school, Canyon Springs STEM Academy, Diamond Canyon School for grades kindergarten through 8, and Gavilan Peak School for grades kindergarten through 8. There are five charter schools and three private schools including Creative Castle Preschool and Kindergarten, and the North Valley Christian Academy for early childhood and grades 1st  through 8th. Nearly all of these schools receive excellent ratings and reviews by parents and students alike.

Located north along Interstate 17, Anthem has a variety of home styles and designs to choose from as well as prices and homeowner association fees. The communities north of West Anthem Way are located within the country club and are gated. The rest of the community neighborhoods and associations are non-gated. Home prices range from $350,000 to $1.6 million. The higher-priced homes are typically within the Country Club community. The average price is between $350,000 and $550,000. Homeowner association fees are anywhere from $85 a month to $500 per month based on the neighborhood and current amenities.
